Hello world!
July 12th, 2007Hello everyone, here is the obligatory first blogpost, hopefully first of many!
A little bit about me and the point of this. I’m charliestar, a young Guide Guider and SSAGO member and very soon I will be going to the World Scout Jamboree! This blog is kindly provided by
www.gojamboree.org.uk and I will be using it to chronicle the beings and doings of my Guidey life! In my “real” life I am a recent graduate from a 4 year maths degree from the University of Durham in the North East of England. My interests outside Guiding/Scouting include maths, music, rugby and working with young people.
The two main things in my Guidey life are the 21st World Scout Jamboree which is being held at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, Essex, UK in only a few days time and the trip to Zambia that I am taking as part of a Scout and Guide group from around the South East of England, which will be taking place in just over a year’s time.
I will be attending the Jamboree as a member of IST, I am fortunate (I think?!) to be involved in organising some activities which I will be running at the Jamboree. They are maths puzzles and games and will be running in each of the 4 parts of the Elements Zone (Science and Technology). I’m really excited about getting to put my ideas into action on such a massive scale - there will be 2000 participants visiting the Elements Zone every half-day of the Jamboree, and every single one will have the chance to do my activities. My organisational skills are not as good as they might be, so I am still working on the materials for it all!
I think that tells you the basics on me and what I’m up to - keep coming back to the blog to see how my Jamboree goes, and beyond!
